2019 has come and gone, but not without Elite Race Sales setting a new standard. In 2019, Elite sold five seven figure horses for the first time in its history.
With 75 horses of racing age offered, Elite sold 61 of them for a gross of $17,713,000, a number which led all consignors of horses of racing age this year. Those 61 horses sold for an average of $290,377, which leads all consignors with 11 or more horses sold.
Another highlight came at the Fasig-Tipton November Sale’s Night of the Stars where Elite sold four seven-figure horses for the first time in it’s history, led by G1 winner Mia Mischief who brought $2.4 million from Barbara Banke’s Stonestreet Farm.
Klaravich Stables’ Separationofpowers, a multiple G1 winner from the barn of trainer Chad Brown, brought $2.1 million with a final bid coming from Hunter Valley Farm. After that, Wow Cat brought $1.7 million from White Birch Farm and Secret Spice went for $1.4 million to Katsumi Yoshida.
Elite led at all but one sale at which it appeared this year, beginning with the Keeneland January Sale, which Elite sold 10 horses at for an average of $146,300, which led all consignors with ten or more horses sold. The Elite consigned G1 winner Fatale Bere brought a final bid of $700,000 from Shadai Farm, becoming the fourth highest price in the sale.
Keeneland’s new April Horses of Racing Age Sale saw Elite crowned as leading consignor again, where 8 horses sold for an average of $163,750, including the sales topping Sweet Diane, who brought $500,000 from River Bend Farm.
At Fasig-Tipton’s July Horses of Racing Age Sale, Elite sold 9 of it’s 10 offerings for an average of $107,778, which led all consignors with four or more sold. Proverb, a three year old colt previously owned by Eric Johnson, sold for $220,000 to Calvin Ngoyen.
In the final sale of the year, Elite sold 33 of 41 horses at Keeneland November, including G2W/MG1P Rymska for $1,050,000 to White Birch Farm.
